Movie Summary
Fatih Akin's engaging and lively homage to the spirit of istanbul is an inspired portrait of Turkish music. Alexander Hacke, a European musician and composer, collects tracks by neo-psychedelic band Baba Zula, fusion DJs Orient Expressions, maverick rocker Erkin Koray, breakdancers the Istanbul Style Breakers, digital dervish Mercan Dede, street performers Siyasiyabend and the 'Elvis of Arabesque', Orhan Gencebay. Through an alien, contradictory and seductive world, Hacke's voyage captures the overwhelming force of musical and visual impressions in Istanbul.
