Movie Summary
A TALE OF TWO CITIES The greatest film version of one of Charles Dickens' most celebrated novels. A Tale of two Cities follows the story of disreputable lawyer Sydney Carton who defends emigre Charles Darnay from charges of spuing against England. In the process he becomes familiar with the people in Dornay's circle including his fiancee Lucie with whom he develops an attraction. Despite this conflict these people provide Carton's best opportunity for salvation. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Film and such was the scale of the production that the Paris mob scenes featured 17,000 extras. This elaborate film adaptation of Dickens' classic tale of the French Revolution was nominated for two Oscars.
