Movie Summary
Rajeshwar (Rajesh Khanna) belongs to a wealthy family. He is the only son of Dharamraj (Om Shivpuri), who is an industrialist. He runs his business with Naglingam Reddy (Kader Khan), Nagendra (Ranjeet), and Dhanraj (Prem Chopra). Rajeshwar meets Bharati (Sridevi), who hails from a very poor family, and falls in love with her. Vishnupratap (Shreeram Lagoo) is Bharati's father who is a schoolteacher by profession. He is not happy with his life-style as he is unable to feed his family. Bharati initially does not reciprocate Rajeshwar's affection, but when she realizes that he really loves her, she too falls in love with him. Bharati has a neighbor, Tilak (Jeetendra), who is unemployed and lives with his mother, Sharda (Waheeda Rehman), who works as a maid-servant in Dhanraj's house. Tilak falls in love with the Dhanraj's daughter, Rani (Jayapradha). Both Rajeshwar and Tilak dislike each other. Then Dharamraj gets killed, and the evidence points towards Tilak.
