The movie story deals with Assistant Commissioner of Police Prithviraj Singh who is all settled with his happy family consisting of his wife, Anjali and sister Aarti. Since he is employed with the Indian police force his record state of being transfer 14 times, he do not accept bribe and does his duty with most honesty. When he is transfer to Gamdevi police headquarters he must now deal with a rape and murder case of a young woman named Geeta. Rohit has weaknesses, he cannot stand any woman being called a prostitute, because his mom, Sonu was one, and he has fallen hard for a married woman, Gauri (Shilpa Shetty), who is enduring a marriage with a phsycially abusive spouse. Rohit snatches her out of this abusive relationshisp and re-marries her. But Rohit?s problems are far from over. There is a change in the political scenario and Rohit does not find any support from any god-father. He is ordered to be arrested – dead or alive. Hathyar is the beginning of the end of its prequel Vastaav.

Hero (Salman Khan) loves Rani (Rani Mukerji), but she doesn’t. Hero, meanwhile, is a loyal worker at A-Z, a courier company helm ed by baddie Khanna (Shakti Kapoor). The man actually distributes drugs around the city, the Tough cop Inspector Vishal (Arbaaz Khan) arrives in the city and starts trailing Hero whom he suspects to be involved in the racket. But the poor unsuspecting Hero is innocent. So when he stumbles upon the truth, Khanna has him bumped off. At the same time, he manages to shoot Vishal in the heart. A heart transplant takes place and Hero’s heart is given to Vishal. Hero’s spirit comes back to avenge his death, but only Vishal can see him. Since Hero’s heart beats for Rani, it is only natural for Vishal to fall in love with Rani. And fortunately, she too falls in love with him. Vaastav opens with a family performing the funeral rites of a person on a beach. When the young son of the deceased asks his grandmother all about the deceased, she begins to narrate the story.As the film opens, Raghunath Namdev Shivalkar or “Raghu” and his best friend Dedh Footiya (literally meaning “One and a half feet tall” in Hindi) struggle to find work in Mumbai. Raghu lives in a Mumbai Chawl with his retired father , mother and a graduate but unemployed brother. They decide to run a pav bhaji stall. But Raghu and Dedh Footiya accidentally kill a customer who turns out to be the brother of a notorious gangster, Fracture Bandya . Now on the run, the two of them soon kill Fracture Bandya and his men also, when the latter tries to find them and kill them both treacherously by arranging a meeting through Suleiman Bhai, a middle man in the Mumbai underworld.
