Movie Summary
Zanjeer is the movie that created the 'angry young man' persona that catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to cinematic fame in the 1970s and established his prolific career. He plays a police officer Vijay Khanna who seeks some answers from life after the brutal murder of his family in his childhood. During the course of duty, he is falsely implicated on charges made by a gangster Teja (Ajit). Suspended from duty, he now wants to avenge his family's murders. He is helped by a street-smart knife sharpening girl (Jaya Bhaduri) and Sher Khan (Pran). He discovers that Teja is the brutal murderer and seeks his revenge. The movie has several memorable scenes and also won Filmfare awards for Best Story, Best Screenplay, Best Lyrics and Best Editing.
